PAPUA New Guinea Teachers Association (PNGTA) has launched a welfare fund under the National Teachers Insurance (NTI), its president Aita Sanangkepe announced on Friday. “The NTI office in Morobe was closed soon after the 2017 General Election to set things in order,” he said. “This led to the closing of offices in other regional centres.” Sanangkepe said the New Guinea Islands office in Kokopo and the Highlands office in Mt Hagen were re-opened recently.
He urged teachers in Morobe who had yet to join the PNGTA to do so to benefit from the welfare fund. Sanangkepe said he was happy that Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu had shown interest to help mobilise other public servants and teachers in the province to join the NTI. “It is only appropriate for teachers to join their own insurance company,” he said. “An example of a benefit is that, upon death, NTI will meet some or majority of the repatriation costs.” The National /PNG Education news Next : Reliable Interrupted Power Supply Supports Education Comments are closed.
