MORE efforts must be placed in giving quality education to students in schools in Papua New Guinea , says Independent Consumer and Competition Commission chief executive Paulus Ain. He made this remark at the KopKop College’s 12th Grade 12 graduation in Port Moresby last Saturday. “Quality education is something that we are yet to achieve in this country, therefore we must give priority to nurture the young ones that will be coming after to develop this country moving forward,” Ain said.
He said as an employer seeing the type of quality graduates possess in the industries did not reflect the type of education delivered in the country. “Seeing the quality of reports written and sent through to the office, are we really producing the quality this country needs, more effort must be placed in our children’s education and their upbringing to ensure they become more advanced than us,” Ain said. “We must give them the best so they can learn and speak better and also be better in their professions in the future.” He urged the college to continue their learning syllabus in order to produce the best of this generation. Ain then pledged the support of his office to sponsor the Grade 12 dux awardees of KopKop College with laptops for a period of three years. Meanwhile, this year’s dux was awarded to Lexius Buskens, who topped all his subjects and also became the first recipient of the commission’s sponsorship award.
