This call, after more than a thousand students from the Lutheran Day Primary school in Madang town, fled the school yesterday after hearing rumours on the streets that they were going to be vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine. Secretary Kombra says, vaccination is voluntary and will depend on the Government’s plan to roll it out across the country. He says, students and teachers will be informed accordingly but in the meantime, it is voluntary and the priority target group are the frontline health workers. Dr. Kombra is calling on the public to stop spreading false rumours about COVID-19 and the vaccination program as it will only result in fear and panic and disrupt the children’s education.
