Wesley Raminai, MP (pictured far left) joined High Commissioner Keith Scott (far right) on 2 September in wishing safe journey and successful studies to the three Papua New Guineans who have been awarded UK government Chevening scholarships for 2021-22. The three scholars and their subject and place of study are (from left to right): Frederick Tamarua, LLM in International Economic Law at University of Warwick; Philomina Polu, MSc in Plant Genetics & Crop Improvement at the University of East Anglia; George Amba, MSc in Hydrography at the University of Plymouth. As well as attending one of the UK’s world class Universities, scholars on the Chevening programme benefit from a series of special events and activities and interact with counterparts from over 160 countries – gaining a richness of experience and access to a global network that will enable them to make the most of their abilities and help build a better future on their return to Papua New Guinea. Over 120 Papua new Guineans have benefitted from UK government Chevening scholarships since the programme began in 1983.
