The member for Ialibu Pangia and Former Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has allocated K2 million to subsidize the tuition fees for Ialibu-Pangia students who are attending various institutions in the country and overseas. The Tuition Fee Assistance Scheme was initiated by Peter O'Neill to assist the students of Ialibu-Pangia and the program has been rolled out since 2016. Over 900 plus students will benefit from this scheme. Students studying in overseas will be subsidized per five thousand Kina while students studying in the higher learning institutions in the country will receive two thousand Kina and students attending colleges will receive one thousand Kina per student respectively. The District Tertiary Students School Fee Coordinator (DTSSFC) Danstan Guli, accompanied by the District Affairs Officer (DAO) Nixion Kanema arrived at the UPNG campus today to confirm and verify the names of the students. Mr Guli said, for this year, K2 million that is allocated will help ease their school fee problems. He further added that over 900 plus students will be assisted, thus 230 students are from the University of Goroka, 129 students are from UPNG, 90 are from the University of Technology and rest are from other universities and colleges. "The funding allocation from the District Development Authority should have been used for other services and development purposes of the district, however, DDA has continued to invest heavily on the students school fees and that is simply because our MP, Hon Peter O'Neill has such a big heart in education and he will continue to help," sad Mr Guli. The students are encouraged to be more productive while pursuing their studies. Next : PNG Teachers’ Qualifications Drop Comments are closed.
