WEST New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel has commended the people of Kaliai-Kove for the initiative they took in building the Aiboki High School.
The people had built two classrooms and two teachers’ houses using their own resources before asking for the provincial government’s assistance. When presenting a cheque for K200,000, Muthuvel said the government was happy to see people taking the initiative using their own resources to start projects like schools. He said the people from Kaliai-Kove had made some effort. He said they did not come from scratch and asked the government to do everything. The K200,000 funding is from the development budget under the Trust Fund, which are proceeds coming from the oil palm projects in the province. Muthuvel said the South Coast people should know that they were benefiting from the oil palm funds. Oil palm is grown in Talasea on the North Coast and recently it was brought into Silovuti on the South Coast. Muthuvel said it was the provincial government’s desire to set up Aiboki High School.
