ABOUT 3600 junior primary school teachers in Morobe will be part of a weeklong training on the standard-based curriculum during the third term holidays. Master trainer and inspector for elementary and primary schools Naikuli Keith Tangui said training would take place from the 24 to 28 of this month. “There are 71 cluster groups in the province; every junior primary school teacher around Morobe is part of one of these clusters,” Tangui said. “We have already trained cluster leaders, we will be conducting training for the 71 clusters in respective locations. We will be looking at involving some lecturers from the Balob Teachers’ College to help with the training.
“All junior primary school teachers in the province must be attending their respective training.” Tangui said funding was important for the exercise because Morobe was a big province and many teachers were in remote areas. “We have not received any funding for this part of the exercise yet. But we are still trying to look for funds to support this training. “It is a mass training because unlike the other ones, we are now training the teachers who will be implementing the standard-based curriculum in their respective classrooms next year.”
