THREE private institutions will be included in Morobe government’s free education policy starting next year. Senior professional assistance education services officer Berrei Karlo said the policy would include the three institutions in partnership with the provincial government and Education Department. “We are pleased to involve International Training Institute (ITI), Mapex Training Institute and Datec where the government will take ownership of paying the fees of students who will be enrolled in those institutions,” Karlo said during the ITI graduation recently. He said the policy will cover all schools from elementary to secondary including technical and vocational. “We have already gathered the necessary information that will help the government to prepare the budget for next year’s fees,” he said.
Karlo said the province would be looking at a large portion of provincial budget to fund the free education policy according to student numbers. Governor Luther Wenge said before the endorsement of the policy, assessments would be carried out to establish the actual numbers of schools and students in each of the schools.
