![]() PEOPLE joining the teaching profession have been warned to do so through the proper processes, following the referral of another 142 to authorities in a scam rocking the Education Department. The department has already deregistered 620 teachers, mainly in elementary schools, who entered teachers’ colleges through fraudulent means and graduated. Education secretary Dr Uke Kombra has been given a list of another 142 from one province alone to be checked.” “This is being checked now, and when confirmed, those teachers will also be de-registered,” he said. “There are teachers who have gone through teachers colleges but have not used correct or true certificates. “They probably used the identity of someone else or changed marks on the (exam) certificates – all sort of malpractices.” Dr Kombra said a vetting team from the department was looking through the list of teachers.
Education Minister Jimmy Uguro warned those wanting to be teachers to be honest with themselves. “You must be you to find a job, you should not pretend to be someone else,” he said. “Copy and paste, cut and paste is wrong. “Only people who are sick in the mind do that. “Don’t use other people’s certificates to find a job because it is not you. “You must be real to find a job. “You are not a photocopy human being, you are real human being and must use your own certificates to get a job.” Uguro said the education system must not be used as a platform for cheaters. “The education system must remain healthy for everybody to use,” he said. “You should be respecting our education system. “These things contribute to a low level of learning.” “Our education system it is how we present ourselves. “If we do the wrong thing, it will (damage) the system.” Meanwhile, with the first national examination starting tomorrow for Grade 10 students, he reminded teachers and students to refrain from cheating such as in the past. Uguro warned students who cheat that they would be disqualified, and teachers who aid students to teach that they would be sacked immediately.
