The Minister for National Planning & Member for Yangoru Saussia, Hon. Richard Maru, has condemned the recent burning of a dormitory at Kubalia Secondary School allegedly by students. “There can be no excuse for such a behaviour by students or anyone and I will ensure those responsible will be investigated and face the full force of the law,” Minister Maru said. The Minister is calling a Special Meeting of the Yangoru Saussia District Development Authority to provide a report on the Secondary School. He has requested Yangoru Saussia DDA CEO, Fantson Yaninen, to provide this report. The Minister wants to get down to the bottom of the reasons behind the burning of the dormitory.
“It has been brought to my attention that the burning is a result of long term frustration over the running and management of the school by the current Board and Management. After the Parliament Sitting I will be travelling to Kubalia Secondary School to meet the students with their parents and the communities to discuss this incident. Action must be taken to ensure such shameful and unnecessary action is not repeated in the future”, Minister Maru said. The Minister is determined to ensure the underlying reasons are clearly understood, dealt with comprehensively before the Yangoru Saussia District DDA can provide immediate funding to build a new permanent dormitory for Kubalia Secondary School.
