MAPEX Training Institute (MTI) has opened its Hagen Training Centre on Monday. The centre is located few meters down from the Coco-Cola depo along the Highlands Highway in Mt Hagen. This brings to eight the number of training centres in PNG giving second chance in life and hope to school dropouts by oering various certicate courses in skills training, accounting, management, heavy equipment
tting and others. Chief executive director and founder of the institute, Marcus Kara, said within four years since the establishment of MTI in 2015, they now have training centres in eight provinces. “We are recognised by the authorities responsible for institutions, the National Institute Council and the Education Department, our programs have been vetted and veried. “Over the years we have seen results of dropouts and unemployed youths who registered with us. “They now have jobs and are living decently,” Mr Kara said. He urged business houses in the country and agencies to try recruit certied students from the institute. “I guarantee you of deliverance and competence. What we oer is top priority where we ensure our students know exactly what they are doing. A lot of our students are now employed.” Mr Kara said the Mt Hagen centre is another achievement for the institute in its endeavour to upskill those that don’t make it in the formal education. “We have progressed and what we have done has been commended by the Education Department,” he said. Mr Kara said they will be opening centers in Alotau and Hela. “We know Hela province of its tribal ghts and killings, but with the request of their MPs, we will be setting up in Hela,” he said.
