![]() A WORKSHOP to equip law students with skills and knowledge on how perform when out in the field is underway at the Legal Training Institute in Port Moresby. The Civil and Criminal Advocacy Workshop started yesterday and will conclude at the end of the month. Legal Training Institute (LTI) acting director Angelyn Paranda told The National that the workshop was held every year. She said the workshop would be in three parts with the first one to be run by the Victorian Bar Association with the involvement of judges and lawyers in Australia. She said students would be taught how to present in court, convince the court and how to prepare to attend to their client matters in court.
Paranda said the law students would have lectures with professionals over Zoom video link and be assessed by them. She expressed LTI’s gratitude with the Victorian Bar for helping PNG law students. She said the second part of the workshop would see the students interact with the local bar where PNG lawyers and judges would present on various topics such as civil matters and conducting trials to the students. The final two weeks of training will see the students have courtroom exercises. “They will be having intensive court room exercises,” she said. “We will be having outside lawyers come in and sit in as judges to assess how they (students) are going or if they have learnt anything or there is room for improvement,” she said. “It is hoped that they take this opportunity and learn a lot from it.” The National / PNG Education News Next : PNG Education Minister Urges Parents To Prevent Girls Join Prostitution Comments are closed.
