Despite being situated in the heart of Port Moresby, the Holy Rosary Catholic Primary School at Six–Mile has been neglected over the last 40 years. Since its establishment in the 1980s, the school existed without much progress being made to refurbish its aging and deteriorating infrastructure. Senior teacher and board member John Mote told The National during a brief visit this week that the school had not gone under any major renovation in the last 10 years. “In the next how many years, it would be another ghost school and everyone will forget about it, if we do not secure funds to renovate and refurbish the aging infrastructure and build new ones to cater for the growing number of students,” he told The National.
“This year has been very challenging for the school with the elections which caused so many disturbances and disruptions to classes. “Another major challenge was the late arrival of the school fee subsidy which resulted in the slow progress on the school’s general operations. “Many elites have passed through this school and are now contributing to the growth and development of the country but over the years, the perception of the school has changed,” he said. The school administration were keen on changing the image of the school by improving infrastructure and increasing academic standards by renovating old buildings The National / PNG Education News Also read : PNG Teachers Postings For 2023 Academic Year Delay Likely Comments are closed.
