THREE PNG students are currently in Philippines while four others will be joining them this month at the Acatech Aviation College.
The students will undergo studies in aircraft maintenance, aviation electronics, mechanical pilot course and airframe repair specialist course apart from pilot training. The college is offering an equal opportunity for Grades 10 and 12 students while at the same time guarantee students for their employment, work visa and work permit will be organised anywhere in the world after completing studies. PNG Acatech consultant officer Tom Keso saidthe college is helping young people to realise their dreams by equipping them with the knowledge and skills that is needed in the aviation industry in PNG and also to cope with the latest trend in the aviation world-wide. “Currently Papua New Guinea aviation industry have lots pilots but have very few qualified aircraft engineers and this opportunity will open the way for Papua New Guinea to increase the number of aircraft engineers.” As part of the college extension programme to other countries, they aim to set up their branch college in Papua New Guinea which initially established in 1982 in collaboration with Port Moresby Technical College but the arrangement fell out. College owner and founder Jonathan Palma was in country in June carried out survey and feasibility studies which the findings were finalised and send to the Department of Education.
