![]() FORMER Pomio MP and PNG national planning minister Paul Tiensten, who is currently on parole from the Bomana Correctional Institution, was among 109 University of PNG law students who graduated yesterday. An emotional Tiensten, who graduated with a bachelor of law, said it was unbelievable to have served his time in prison as well as coming out and studying law. He said he wouldn’t have come this far if it had not been for his wife Juliet, twin daughters Irene and Isabella and the grace of God. He said with the challenge of having access to resources and learning materials in prison, he managed to complete his studies with the help of his wife who printed out learning materials for him and the Correctional Service for allowing him to use the internet and a laptop.
“My wife and my kids have been my tower of strength, they have been the bedrock when I was in prison,” Tiensten said. “I do not hold any grudges or bitterness about the years I was in jail because God took all the anger out of my heart. Tiensten, while acknowledging the PNG Correctional Services, particularly the former commander for Bomana Chief Supt Hahara Kidi Keko for releasing him to study and said it was part of their corrective measures for rehabilitation of prisoners.
