![]() PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill has urged a group of grade 10 and grade 12 students to complete their education first before getting married. He addressed grade 10 and grade 12 students at the Pangia Secondary School in his Ialibu-Pangia district of Southern Highlands on Thursday. “Why do you think your parents and relatives are gathered here? It is because their hopes are all on you. So don’t let them down,” he said.
“Don’t join groups and people who chew betel nuts and spit all over the place and drink and get married early in life. “You know these things will come to you later in life. So get educated first and don’t get married too early because you cannot look after yourself. “You will give more problems to your parents. So think carefully. Your future rests in your hands.” O’Neill promised the top three students in major subjects a laptop each from the district administration. He also said the Western Pacific University would start enrolment by 2020. “We are working closely towards that and the Chinese government has promised us K50 million to the Western Pacific University,” he said. “By 2020, we want he first degree students to get enrolled. “The PNG government has also allocated another K50 million to counter fund the infrastructure work at the school.” Statement Comments are closed.
