![]() Fourteen new doctors will graduate from Divine Word University’s main campus in Madang , Friday March 19. These 14 graduates are the pioneer of 30 Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) class that enrolled in 2016. The graduate doctors from DWU after graduation will return to various hospitals for the compulsory two-year residency program. The MBBS program is offered by the Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Earlier this month, DWU President Professor Father Philip Gibbs SVD announced the decision of University Council stating that after consultation with the Chair of Council, the DWU Graduation which was to be on the 12th March, rescheduled to tomorrow.
Professor Fr. Gibbs had said that the university could not hold its graduation during the official mourning period for the Father of the Nation and friend to DWU. The late Sir Michael was a friend and great supporter of DWU. The Student Services Building at DWU in Madang is named after him.
