Dr Albert Schram has been reinstated as the vice-chancellor for the PNG University of Technology.
The University of Technology Council and the university are now in the process of securing a work visa for Schram to return to the country.
Council Chairman Sir Nagora Bogan says despite the opposition by the Higher Education Minister David Arore on Schram’s return, the council has the final say on.
“We urge the chief of migration to respect the decision of the Unitech council and the board based on the wish and support of the staff and students,” he says.
Sir Bogan is also urging all parties to set aside petty politics, personal differences, bias nepotism and to work to together in restoring the credibility of the university. The council’s decision has already been relayed to Schram.
Meanwhile, Schram is currently in Australia where he is hosted by the James Cook University and appointed as an adjunct professor at the university’s Cairns campus. PNG EDGE
