CHARLES Lwanga Secondary School in Port Moresby hopes to maintain its position in the top 10 schools in the country academically. Deputy principal, academic, Francesca Muki told The National that it was a challenge to their grade 10 students as they sat for their written expression examination yesterday. Charles Lwanga grades 10 and 12 were among the best-performing students last year. “That’s the challenge and because of that expectation on them to keep it that way, we are hoping that they would maintain it, and because of the commitment of those teachers and students we feel that the same result is going to be maintained for both grades 10 and 12,” Muki said. She said the Covid-19 lockdown did not affect students’ learning because the school was well prepared. “We managed, this time we learnt from the previous experience. “Our students were prepared, we prepared weekly work for them and by grades. “We were not behind in any lesson or subject.“During the three weeks’ lockdown, we (arranged) for students to collect their materials for their weekly work.
“We had follow ups when they came back so there were no extra classes.”A total of 245 grade 10 students sat for their written expression examination yesterday. Meanwhile, Muki said practising social distancing in school was very difficult because of overcrowding. “We have 830-plus students. “Social distancing we cannot really do, because it’s crowded we maintain wearing of masks and hand sanitising.” TheNational / PNG Education News Next : PNG Teachers Association Raises Concerns On Deregistration Of Teachers Comments are closed.
