![]() "We are here to assist with the needs of the school because at BSP, we respect, value and support the communities which we operate in," BSP Manager Lending Support Laura Pokarop told the students of Iarowari Agro Technical Secondary School on Saturday 10th October 2020. Community is one of BSP's core values, and the bank lives by this through its various community initiatives. BSP staff from the Lending Support and Collections Business Unit with its supporting partners CPL Group of Companies, YFIG Group, Glory Group of Companies and Edai Town Real Estate donated much needed items valued at K10,200 to the school, a donation that will enable classes for the 600 plus students to continue well after the grade 10 and 12 sit for their final examinations. The donated food items consisted of food items, toiletries, stationeries, a 40L hot water urn, 36L stock pot, 60L stock pot, printing ink and master roll, cement bags and two flag poles along with accessories. Principal Andrew Moava acknowledged BSP and the staff for the donated items highlighting the immediate need the school had and challenges in keeping the school operational despite not receiving subsidy since term one. "Since the Germans, we have never seen a corporate body donate to Iarowari and we are thankful for BSP's donation today," Mr Moava added. It is understood that, two packets of rice, noodles and one canned meat is what students of Iarowari are asked to bring to school every time the rations go down, just so they could be fed and attend classes. The schools was established after Second World War, and later converted into an Agro Technical Secondary School in November 2019. It currently has a Talapia Fish Farm, and breeds ducks and goats.
