MOROBE deputy administrator (social services) Robin Bazzinuc has appealed to all teachers to refrain from skipping classes during school hours. “This appeal is to both early childhood, secondary and technical vocational education training school teachers – you are paid, so do not neglect your duties,” he added. “If any teacher (s) is not in the classroom during school hours, they have to be reported to the authorities.” Bazzinuc said this in his address at Bugandi Secondary school recently after some teachers had skipped classes. “You have failed your role and responsibility as a teacher and I ask you to improve on your performances,” he said.
“If not, resign and go somewhere else.” Bazzinuc said he had received reports of teachers neglecting their work although they were on payroll. “The Education Department cannot keep teachers who become liabilities to the Government and are not performing their duties as they should or expected,” he said. Senior secondary school inspector Gibson Dom, while expressing similar sentiments, urged students to report teachers who failed or were missing classes. “Not only Bugandi but other schools in the province must also take notice that teachers have to perform their duties well or they will be dealt with accordingly,” he warned.
