![]() All schools within the country will resume classes on Monday the 27th of April 2020, while other restrictions will also be reviewed and relaxed in the next couple of days and weeks. State of Emergency Controller and Police Commissioner David Manning said this when speaking to the media in a press conference, at the National Operations Center in Port Moresby on Sunday. Commissioner Manning said that all restrictions will still remain in place to keep everyone safe, but they will be reviewed and changes will be made accordingly, when the need arises. Commissioner Manning also said that they are also in the process of reopening International flights on a limited capacity mid next week, to ensure Papua New Guinean's who are stranded abroad can be allowed to return into the country.
Meanwhile, the SOE Controller said that the Joint Agency Task Force through the National Operations Center, is continuing to undertake COVID-19 tests in the country. Mr. Manning, said the Rapid Response Teams with the assistance of police and PNG Defence Force soldiers operating in Western Province, Port Moresby and East New Britain will continue to do contact tracing and carry out tests for the previous cases. He also added that they are also taking all preventative measures, to ensure that all staff at the National Operations Center are safe and working in a safe environment as well.
