Notices from DHERST: ADMISSION TO TERTIARY INSTITUTION IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA DOES NOT ENTIRELY DEPEND ON YOUR 'EXTERNAL MARKS'. The National Online Selection System facilitates for Selectors to use up to 90 different quantified data types to select a set of students for a study program. Data types include but is not limited to the following: (1) Grade 12 final marks (which is a combination of external and internal marks after being standardized)
(2) Grade 12 Internal marks (3) Grade 12 External marks (4) Differential Aptitude Test (undertaken in Grade 11) (5) Confidential Evaluations of Students by Patrons (6) STAT - P Scores (7) National Ranking and or Percentile of each student (8) Subject Combination etc. In the first instance, the majority of Selectors set a minimum requirement usually in the form of Grade 12 Final Mark combination and minimum mark. These minimum requirements are found within the National Online Application System (apply.dherst.gov.pg) when a student browses the study programs. Selectors, then finalize within the National Online Selection System, through the use of a weighted formula to incorporate these data types. Higher Education institutions set the quotas for each study program and this is taken into consideration. Comments are closed.
