THE International Training Institute (ITI) has awarded scholarships to 90 students around the country to study at its facilities. ITI executive manager Sivanathan Sivaruban said K300,000 was allocated to these students with each receiving K3,400 to help pay for their tuition fees. Sivaruban said ITI, which had been in operation for 22 years providing training for school leavers and those from the workforce, was committed to helping Papua New Guineans. He said the institute had also donated money to other causes particularly in sport such as Port Moresby cricket, junior tennis and the annual Trukai Fun Run.
Sivaruban said the selected scholars were doing an excellent job in the industry and were ITI ambassadors. He said ITI graduates were trained to be effective and efficient members of the workforce and had the latest training in information and communication technology to be competitive. Sivaruban said ITI graduates also spent significant time with on-job-training training and experience before formal employment. He said the institute planned to introduce two diploma courses in small and medium business and tourism and hospitality management to its programme.
