THREE females were part of 36 security officers from the University of Technology who graduated from the National Security Training College (NSTC) last week in Lae.
Unitech Vice Chancellor Dr Albert Schram congratulated the security officers said he was impressed with everyone for passing out with very high marks in the training. Schram said security was very important for the university so they would organise regular parades and inspection to enhance their security skills. “We would arrange some special training later on so that our security officers are equip to deal with situations in a professional manner,” he said. He said the job of a campus guard is not the same as any other guards because they dealt with very intelligent and important people. NSTC director Peter Aigilo told the guards during the graduation that the way they conduct themselves in public would make people respect them. Aigilo said NSTC provided a high standard of training for security guards therefore those who passed out should do their best to provide security in a professional manner. “We train many guards and we want security officers to be professional in their job to instil confidence and trust in terms of security,” he said. He told The National that some security officers who graduated would be selected later to join the police as reservists. “After things are formalised some of you in this group might go through a basic training again as police reservists,” Aigilo said.
