POLICE have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly killing a grade 7 schoolboy in Lorengau’s PNKA, Manus, last Saturday. Lorengau police commander Chief Insp David Yapu said the murder was believed to have been caused by outstanding land issues. Chief Insp Yapu said the man confronted the boy between 7pm and 8pm and smashed the boy’s head against the wall several times before leaving. “The family found the boy lying unconscious and rushed him to hospital where he died from multiple head injuries,” he said, adding that the suspect would be charged with murder.
Chief Insp Yapu said Liap village had been on the spot light for all the wrong reasons – murder, unlawful wounding, serious assault, damaging properties and homebrew consumption. “Many have been arrested and are undergoing various court processes,” he said. “Despite the arrests, many continue to be involved in criminal activities. “I have on several occasions sent police to carry out awareness but the young continue to disregard the law.” TheNational/PNGEducation News Next : University Of Goroka Locks Down Comments are closed.
