A total of hundred and forty Papua New Guineans were awarded for the 2014 Australian Award Scholarship.
The program looks at developing leadership skills in the awardee’s career.
The AusAID Scholarship Program saw over 18 thousand Papua New Guineans receiving the award for the last 10 years.
At their pre-departure briefing in Port Moresby, Public Service Minister, Sir Puka Temu encouraged them to take charge of this opportunity.
Sir Puka challenged the 140 Awardees to build good leadership, and share their skills and knowledge in building our nation.
He also highlighted Human Resource Development and Institutional Strengthening as top pillars of Vision 2050.
Guest speaker Stuart Schaefer, the AusAID’s Minister for Development Cooperation encourages men to be part of the solution to address not just violence, but also the rights of women generally, as the world is on a journey to promote gender equality he says.
The program is not only focused in awarding able human beings; however, four of the awardees are people living with disability.
