Dr Pamela Toliman was recently awarded her PhD from her research undertaken through the Kirby Institute at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Her thesis looked at innovative approaches for cervical cancer screening in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Specifically, she evaluated the performance of novel point-of-care test and treat algorithms. In PNG, cervical cancer is the lead cause of cancer death in women, with the country having one of the highest burdens both in the region, and globally. The body of work produced by Dr Toliman contributes much needed evidence to the establishment of a national cervical cancer screening program in PNG.
Her Village Is So Remote That It Can Only Be Accessed by Air
The remoteness of her village did little to stop this girl who had a big dream to graduate in University.
Yanamlyn Yana's story starts in Kaintiba, an extremely remote place bordering Gulf and Morobe Provinces. She grew up in a very conservative Christian home and attended school in the village.
Yanalyn shares her extremely challenging experiences growing up in rural village.
"Being a village girl, education for a girl was uncommon. My parents believed in me excelling. The challenge was proving to my people that girls can excel too"

Elementary Teaching Sector is seriuosly affected by the ongoing Curriculum Reforms - shifting from one curriculum to another without adequate teacher preparation and teacher remuneration.
Sucessive Government's have continued to use teachers as their testing grounds for reforms. This is a gross violation of workers' employment rights enshrined under the International Labour Organisations Conventions (Geneva Convention 1952).

Salary payment delays and pay cut or even being not on pay are active issues currently faced by yet faithful teachers. Most of the victims (teachers) burst out their grievances on social media mostly with the understanding that social media has revolutionized the society and by posting they might find support or comfort.
I have also realized the some people who are not of teacher profession throw negative comments to teachers regarding the issues.
Fame doesnt always translate to fortune especially in Papua New Guine where most athletes after illustratious sporting careers end up with nothing.
That is not the case with Wira Wama, the Papua New Guinean soccer star who last represented Papua New Guinea in the 2016 OFC Nations Cup before returning back to USA to complete his studies.
My name is Lance Corporal LAINA DAPHNEY. I come from Lido village in the Vanimo Green Electorate of West Sepik. I am the first female soldier to join the Papua New Guinea Defence Force Maritime Element.
I joined PNGDF because I saw people of different qualifications and specialties serving in this great organization and I knew there was a career path for me in wearing the camouflage uniform. I only needed to find my purpose.
I am a chef aboard HMPNGS Lakekamu. I enlisted on January 25, 2012.
Good morning all, yesterday was a special day for me as I was recognised by the independent state of Papua New Guinea for services in the Aviation industry and Business.
I would like to take this opportunity to dedicate my Logohu Award of CSM to everyone who were part of my life from the day I was born, my parents, my family, extended family, my community's several that I grew up in, my friends, workmates, business clients, the aviation Family, PNG as a whole and last but not the least to God.

Can the Education minister, Teaching Service Commission, PNGTA and the Salaries Office explain to the poor teachers why there has been a huge cut in our pay this payday.
Frankly speaking there is no teaching job satisfaction but we are sweating our gut for those amounts you are deducting. We are fucking teaching from 8am to 4pm. From then on busy marking test, etc papers and prepare lessons for the next day.
Its so ridiculous habit when it comes to PNG teachers across the nation that former PNGTA president and his executives had paid k10,000 fortnightly to pay hire cars while they were in the office. They have also misused thousands of kina over the last 15 years while in the office. The Newly elected PNGTA president Mr. Aita expressed this issue during the current conference here in port Moresby.
