EDUCATION will be balanced if we base it on knowledge skills and attitude, Badili Vocational Community College (BVCC) principal says.
Gordon Awatan told The National that students attending community college programme at BVCC were being taught attitude skills and theory which balances life and work skills. “In community college, students are being taught 30 per cent skills, 30 per cent theory and 40 per cent attitude whereas in vocational schools they teach 70 per cent skills and 30 theory.” According to Awatan, the concept of community college is used in many developed countries like the US, United Kingdom and India and was brought into the country in 2010 where it was one of the schools to pilot it. “Community College is the Best Concept in the world. It has changed the lives of people,” Awatan said. The students are being mould and shaped to be competent at BVCC. “Include the excluded, giving the best to the least is our motto.” He assured parents during the 6th graduation ceremony of Badili Community College and first graduation of PETT Academic Grade 10 that students graduating from Badili community college find less problem in securing jobs. Apart from the above programme mentioned Badili also Provide PETT Technical Trade which trade courses only are taught.
