The Papua New GUinea Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Usino-Bundi, Hon. Jimmy Uguro has died in the early hours of Tuesday in Wewak, East Sepik Province. Minister Uguro had recently arrived in Wewak on Sunday, accompanied by the Secretary for the Department of Education, Dr. Uke Kombra. During his visit, Minister Uguro, alongside Dr. Kombra, played a significant role in a groundbreaking ceremony at Wingei High School in the Yangoru-Saussia District. He officially declared the elevation of the school from a high school to a secondary school, highlighting his dedication to advancing education development. Additionally, Minister Uguro visited Pomalmal High School, where he inaugurated a new 4-in-1 classroom and office, announcing a substantial pledge of K1 million to each school for the establishment of fully equipped science laboratories.
Tragically, Minister Uguro was scheduled to return to Port Moresby today, but he passed away unexpectedly before dawn. His body is set to be transported to Port Moresby later this afternoon. The confirmation of Minister Uguro's passing came from PNG's Trade and Investment Minister, Richard Maru, who stated that the late Jimmy Uguro passed away in his sleep. Maru mentioned that Minister Uguro had not complained of any sickness during dinner, and only a post-mortem examination would confirm the cause of death. The sudden loss of Minister Uguro has created a void in the realm of education leadership.
