THE Holy Trinity Teachers’ College in Mt Hagen appointed a new principal yesterday.
The college board appointed Michael Miamel in Mt Hagen to take over from John Onguglo. Catholic church brother Dave Miller has been appointed deputy principal administration. Holy Trinity is a Catholic church-run the teachers’ college that has been serving the country for more than 50 years. Western Highlands provincial education chairman Michael Mai, PNG Teachers’ Association (PNGTA) Highlands regional secretary John Melson, Archbishop of the Catholic church of Mt Hagen Bishop Douglas Young, Catholic education secretary Andrew Wan and the college’s governing council board chairman Hugo Kop were all present to witness the appointment of Miamel. Also present were councillors from the neighbouring tribes. Young appointed Miamel to the office and said the church had a vision for the college and that was to offer other courses apart from teaching. He said he believed that changes were good and that would help create a good management. Kop said the governing council wanted to provide a leadership within the college and the management would make things work out well. He called on the college administration and the staff not to deal with anyone on the street but to address all issues regarding the registration and other issues at the college.
