THE Morobe provincial government will increase funding in the 2014 budget to expand programmes to schools, a local level government president says.
It will make available incentives to teachers as well, Leron-Wantuat LLG president and chairman of the education committee Andrew Gena, said. He said more elementary, primary and secondary schools would benefit from the education sector improvement programme. Thirteen schools benefited this year. The teachers’ incentives will cover accommodation, allowance and scholarships for further studies. Gena was speaking at the Grade 12 graduation ceremony at Lae Secondary School. He said the school would get K200,000 next year to build classrooms and teachers quarters. “The provincial government will increase its budgetary support to more elementary, primary and secondary and technical schools and teachers will be given incentives,” he said. He said the 2013 budget was K361 million, an increase of K134 million from the 2012 budget. “The Gerson-Solulu scholarship for Morobe tertiary students received K5.6 million to help Morobe students this year, a programme that some of you will benefit from next year in our new budget,” Gena said. The national Comments are closed.
