Applications are now open to working executives and managers for the one-year, part-time Graduate Diploma of Economic and Public Policy qualification at the University of Papua New Guinea’s School of Business & Public Policy, which will commence in February 2020. Closing date for applications is Tuesday, 15 October 2019. The Graduate Diploma of Economic and Public Policy is designed to develop professionals with the knowledge and ability to create and implement effective policy in the national interest. It provides an academic platform for participants to boost their skills in economic and public policy analysis, which can be applied to the complex range of challenges in PNG today. The diploma was developed through a partnership between the University of Papua New Guinea and the Australian National University. Academics from the University of Papua New Guinea and the Australian National University teach subjects as part of the diploma program and support students with research projects. Ten scholarships for the 2020 academic year are available to middle and senior managers in the PNG public service. The scholarships cover tuition fees costs only and are supported by the Pacific Leadership and Governance Precinct, a partnership between the Papua New Guinean and Australian Governments supporting the development of public sector leadership in PNG. Scholarships will be merit-based and awarded to benefit public servants whose work is focused on economic management and government policy formulation. The Graduate Diploma in Economics and Public Policy is the pre-requisite to being admitted for the Master of Economic and Public Policy program at the UPNG School of Business and Public Policy. Application processThe University of Papua New Guinea has called for applications for the Graduate Diploma of Economic and Public Policy. The closing date for applications is 15 October, 2019. Applicants must successfully meet the entry requirements of the University of Papua New Guinea to gain acceptance to the Graduate Diploma Program. Applicants from the Government of Papua New Guinea Public Sector who are accepted by UPNG will be referred to DPM for further screening under the public service general order requirements and also be considered by the Precinct screening and panel selection process to gain scholarship. Successful applicants to the course who do not receive a scholarship offer will still be eligible to undertake the course as a full fee-paying student. Late applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.
