Papua New Guinea's Yangoru-Saussia District in East Sepik Province will sponsor 20 students to study in India next year. The announcement was made during the launch of the district’s Independence Fellowship Scheme on Monday. Local MP Richard Maru stated that the district would cover the K11,000 tuition fees for the top 20 students selected to study abroad. He emphasized the importance of gaining international exposure, saying, "No more studying in the country; I want us to go out into the world." While the district will cover tuition fees, Maru noted that parents would be responsible for covering travel tickets and allowances. He encouraged Grade 12 students from the district to begin envisioning their future in India.
Maru highlighted India as the chosen destination for its affordable and high-quality education. “I was recently in India and saw many Americans studying there due to its very high academic standard,” he said. District Adviser Jeffrey Leni will circulate information in all secondary and high schools to invite Grade 12 students to apply. The scholarship also extends to those pursuing matriculation studies, provided they present their acceptance letters to the district for fee processing. However, the scheme is only available to students within the district. ALso read Comments are closed.
