THE Univesity of Papua New Guinea Council Standing Committiee will announce its final decision on the 2018 fees for the university tomorrow (250118).
The council had a meeting on Monday after the university senior management met with the Prime Minister Peter O’Neil and Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology Pila Niningi last Friday, where the Prime Minister assured an increased budget for UPNG. Last weekend the minister annouced the 2018 fees will remain as the 2017 rates. But the UPNG Council said it would further deliberate on the fees after Friday’s meeting. According to the University Chancellor Dr Nicholas Mann said a meeting was held yesterday (Tuesday) and today (Wednesday) with minister Niningi and Secretary Prof Fr Zan Czuba and the university council to finalise a way forward. After deliberating on all those meetings, the council will announce its decision. _Post Courier
