Thirty-five schools in Builolo, Morobe, are running low on fuel and stationery supplies because they have not yet received their tuition free funding from the national Government, a head teacher said.
“My school is waiting for an outstanding amount of K40,000 which the government has to pay from previous years,” said Mund Yalama, the head teacher of Menyamya Primary School. “Basic needs such as stationary and other office supplies for teachers cannot be purchased by schools due to the lack of TFF funding.” Yalama said 33 primary schools, one high school and a secondary school were affected. “We have generators which need fuel and students who need stationery,” he said.
