The University of Goroka council has approved insurance cover for all registered students, Chancellor Joseph Sukwianomb says.
“We started this last year,” he said. “The university council approved health and life insurance for registered students, the council and the members of the top management team,” he said. Sukwianomb said the students’ insurance covered sickness and death on the school campus during the academic year. “The insurance covers for a year only when the student registers at the beginning of the year,” he said. “When a student dies while attending the institution, funeral costs and everything will be covered in the insurance.” He said the university did not charge students any insurance fee. “The insurance is part of the school and is only for helping the students,” Sukwianomb said. He said the university fee was reasonable and affordable.
