THE University of Goroka and Centre for Melanesian Studies have signed a memorandum of understanding partnership with The Voice, Incorporated (TVI).
UOG acting Vice-Chancellor, associate Professor Michael Mel and executive Dean School of Humanities Dr Sam Kari signed the MOU with TVI chairperson Sue Whiteford and TVI programme manager Barbra Thomas on June 9. Mel said the university, as a teacher training institution, was well placed to provide teacher training to students who, when deployed in the teaching field, will have exponential impacts with their secondary school students. He said TVI programmes were well suited for student teachers. “They will impact the students in the schools that they will go and teach after undergoing these programmes,” Mel said. Whiteford said TVI was a young people’s organisation that promoted leadership qualities in the young generations of today.
