Three PNG students have won Taiwanese international students scholarship to study at various universities.
The scholarship was under its s international cooperation and development fund for international higher education scholarship programme. The students would be studying in Taiwan from September 2016 for two years. They are; Samantha Rose Gangai – Master programme in Tropical Agriculture, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Pari Irai – Graduate Institute of International Human Resource Development, National Taiwan Normal University and Bessie Suinite Jasper Pole – International Master programme in nursing science, National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Science. The 2016 programme offers scholarships for English-taught Master and PhD degree courses in Taiwan. Among them, 80 places are open to applicants from developing partner countries. The scholarship programme is under one of the four core functions of the international cooperation and development fund (Taiwan ICDF) – international education and training. The scholarship programme enables talented young citizens to go to Taiwan to pursue in higher education. The programme provides full financial support for tuition and living expenses and having grown in scope over the years. The programme is highly competitive and selective, given that it is open to young citizens of Taiwan’s foreign allies including Papua New Guinea. I am a Mechanical Maintenance Professional with over 23 years of continuous service in the mining industry. I would like to be considered for a relevant engineering degree programme under this scholarship.
