Teachers all over the country have resumed duty today as instructed by the Department of Education and it is tradition that teachers should be sorting out enrolment and other issues a week before classes start. With the beginning of another academic year, teachers at the Gordons Secondary School started their day with discussions on enrolment issues in the past years and how they plan to address those issues during enrolment this week. According to Principal Mr George Kenenga, their main focus for this week is to enrol the grade 9 and 11 students and deal with transfer in students later on. “We won’t be dealing with any transfer in students at this time; they can come see us after we deal with the students that were actually selected to attend Gordons Secondary School” Mr Kenenga also urged parents and students to take note of the Department’s directive to charge project fees for this year. “The Department of Education has made it clear that every student attending Secondary schools should pay a project fee of K250 and that is exactly what the school will impose for every student to pay that amount and parents should not complain to the school about this directive” said Mr Kenenga. Meanwhile, a good number students and parents lined up outside the school office hoping for their queries to be sorted out this week before classes resume by next week. PNGFM
