School of Natural and Physical Science (SNPS) vice president Wilma Mavea said the fair was initiated to empower upcoming scientists and to motivate students of this country to think innovatively and be sustainable. “Our country is going through stages of development and so we want it to be sustainable,” Mavea said. Mathematics, statistics and computer science students presented prototype database that can be used by the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary and the Health Department. The chemistry discipline presented a project on biodiesel produced from palm oil.
