SCHOOLS TO BE PUNISHED IF FOUND TO BE IN DEFIANCE
Schools covered under the Tuition Fee Free Education Policy who are caught charging enrolment fees, will be disciplined for defiance of lawful Government directive. The Government through the National Executive Council decision number 25 of 2016, directed that no fees of any sort relating to student enrolment should be imposed upon parents and guardians. In a statement, Doctor Uke Kombra said a number of schools are imposing fees, including withholding certificates to collect outstanding fees from parents. Doctor Kombra said this is uncalled for. He further urged that the department of education will suspend and investigate the head teacher of any school found to be charging fees. Doctor Kombra also announced the establishment of hotline numbers for each region, for parents to call and report schools who are charging fees. NBC News
