THE Royal Papua Yacht Club has donated K5530 towards the annual Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG (MPIP PNG) Scholarship Fund to support women empowerment through education.
“MPIP PNG Scholarship is for young women to complete or continue their tertiary education,” said MPIP PNG chairperson Molly O’Rourke after receiving the cheque in Port Moresby yesterday. Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG Niawali Twain said over one million young women in the country were striving to be educated despite the constraints that each one of them faced, to pursue their educational dreams. O’Rourke said application forms for the scholarship are available at mpippng401@gmail.com. She said applications would close at 5pm Feb 2 and priority would be given to those studying in the fields of education, health and agriculture.O’Rourke said since 2011, MPIP PNG has spent K684,000,00 for this purpose.
