A small remote community in the Southern Highlands has commended and thanked the people and government of Japan for funding two fully kitted double classrooms in their community.
In May last year, the Japanese people and government approved and funded a grant proposal through its grassroots human security assistance program for the construction of two double classrooms at the Posulim Primary school in the Bush Karinz Local Level Government area of the Mendi Muinhu district. Local contractor Busk Karinz (BK) construction was awarded the contract to build the classrooms at the cost of K247 900. On Wednesday this week, Managing Director of BK construction Peter Nupiri delivered the completed project to the people and the Southern Highlands provincial division of education witnessed by hundreds of locals and school children. Nupiri who went out of his way to secure the funding for his community and to construct the classrooms said his intention was not to make profit or fame but a contribution to his community. He said his company went out of the scope of work by spending his many and resources to build the two fully furnished double classrooms, footpaths and water supply for the schools and the nearby elementary school. “My intention was not to make profit but a service to my community by doing additional work out of the scope of work. I made sure I maximise the resources as much as I would to deliver a quality work on record time as my contribution to the community and also to showcase that my company can do for more than money,” he said. Mr Nupiri thanked the people and government of Japan for assisting his people in which the young children from the area would benefit very much for their donation.

Big thank you to the people and Government of Japan for trusting and choosing our school out of the many. Your contribution will go a long way in supporting our local community in education which will help produce some of the future leaders of our community, district, province and the country at large.
