A new online secondary school and FODE study centre established under PNG SME Web Services last year are now at its peak now enrolling students from all around the country including PNG citizens currently living overseas. The online study centre in Kokopo East New Britain Province is a sanctioned institute and facilitator of the Department of Higher Education FODE curriculums aligned with its conventional secondary school syllabus in the country. School chairman and director of PNG SME web services Mr Simon Uve said the school is a division of the national education department facilitating its new aligned curriculum similar to that of secondary schools. “Our establishment and learning material follow the new FODE curriculum co-funded by the government of PNG and World Bank launched in April 2017,” Mr Uve said. Mr Uve said the centre can be seen as a substitute to pave a way forward for addressing the daily educational issues faced by the schools today and is one of the cost-cutting measures to normal school issues faced on a daily basis “Especially in terms of building and infrastructure, maintenance, school raisings, transportation including other general factors that contribute to the closure of schools,” he said. “We currently have six online tutors who are very effective in their roles of expertise through providing lessons and assignments for students online while monitoring their daily performances,” said Uve. “So far we have enrolled more than one hundred students from different provinces throughout the country with latest records of PNG citizens and students residing outside of the country in Australia,” Mr Uve said. He said students upon registration will be given their own accounts into the 2018 academic year which also contains a window for students to get to know themselves and their tutors. However, he said students will be only required to pay for their own data at a maximum of one gigabyte (1GB) to download their lessons and assignments to work offline until a new offline system is a setup. The chairman also said the function of the centre is just similar to other schools but the difference is that everything is done electronically and students are only required to physically sit for their exams at their various locations. In the meantime, the school fees for Grade 9-10 is K660 which covers six subjects while Grade 11-12 is K770 which covers seven subjects for the whole year. I really want to register to be a online student to complete my Grade 11 and 12 lessons. Currently I'm leaving at home working with Our local level government body in central Bougainville. I was selected to continue my Grade 11 and 12 but that was not eventuated because of school fee problem and worse thing happened in my life is that I'm married but the goal and interest to complete my education carrier is really a burden. I'm looking for an opportunity to ease my pain for eduction through online studies. I have computers and printers in my house which will anable me to complete the exercises and send it back as soon as possible. Thanks

I really want to go back to school and complete my grades and I'm sure this is the right place for me to join in. I was a grade 9 student at Badihagwa Secondary School in Port Moresby, I completed my year 9 and at the same time I ended up Pregnant which caused me not to move up to grade 10. I really am planning to do my grade 10 and I have a PC and printer so I'm looking forward to join.
