PNG’s Teaching Service Commission has unveiled its Corporate Plan, Teaching Service Development Plan and official website as part of efforts to modernise education administration and strengthen support services for teachers throughout the country. The launch ceremony was attended by acting Education Minister Kinoka Feo, Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra, TSC Commissioner Maina Ugaia and other education stakeholders. Speaking at the event, Mr Feo said the reforms highlighted the Government’s commitment to improving the education sector and supporting teachers serving across Papua New Guinea.
“Today marks an important step in improving Papua New Guinea’s education system. We are launching the TSC Corporate Plan, the Teaching Service Development Plan, and the official TSC website to strengthen services for teachers across the country,” he said. The Corporate Plan sets out the commission’s direction for improving governance, accountability and service delivery while aligning its priorities with the Government’s Medium-Term Development Plan Four. The Teaching Service Development Plan is focused on strengthening teacher training, improving workforce development, enhancing performance management and upholding the professionalism of teaching. Mr Feo said the launch of the commission’s official website represented a major step towards digital transformation within the education sector. He said the online platform would allow teachers, particularly those working in rural and remote areas, to access forms, policies and other important information more easily. TSC officials said the reforms were also designed to improve efficiency within the commission, address teacher grievances and payroll concerns, and provide better support for teachers nationwide. “The launch of the TSC website is a major achievement. Teachers, especially those in remote areas, will now have easier access to forms, policies, and important information without travelling long distances,” Mr Feo said. Headlines
