AN excited acting Regional Director for Standards and Guidance Service in the New Guinea Islands Region Henry Vainak said remote rural head teachers were the first in East New Britain to receive one box of simplified version of the Vision 2050 plan. Mr Vainak said 15 Gazelle district Inland and Lassul Baining Primary Schools head teachers were part of a two-day induction workshop last week. The simplified version Mr Vainak said would enable teachers to read and understand the meanings and explanation of Vision 2050 so they would in turn be in a better position to teach their students. Mr Vainak was assisted by Primary School Standards Officer Christopher Koreari who both reiterated that it was the head teachers’ responsibility to interpret the accurate meaning of the seven pillars under Vision 2015 to the students, teachers and the community around the schools. It was their responsibility to also ensure that Vision 2050 was part of their respective school teaching and learning improvement and development plans. The simplified version of Vision 2050 was developed by the Office of Vision 2050 under the Prime Minister’s Department and distributed nationwide at the end of 2013. ENB received one box of about 700 and these would be distributed to all the 498 schools in the province by term one week two. The happy recipient head teachers praised the Vision 2050 Office efforts and recommended that more be supplied so that enough copies were made available at school libraries for students to read and understand. Currently not all schools in East New Britain have a fully equipped library to cater for all their student needs.
