The Central Provincial Government will be sending five women to New Zealand to undergo aviation training. The five women, from the Central Province, will undergo an 18 month program at the Nelson Aviation College in New Zealand. Nelson Aviation College has been training pilots for the aviation industry since 1978. According to the college’s official website, it provides the highest standard of theory and practical aviation training in New Zealand. Central Province Governor, Kila Haoda, said this scholarship program was initiated to give an opportunity to five young women to empower them so they can excel and become professionals in the aviation industry. “We want to empower women in our province so that women can be seen as equally important as men,” Mr Haoda said. The Governor said application for the scholarship was open to both females who have completed grade 12 and those that were currently studying in tertiary institutions. “In a weeks time we will announce the scholarship scheme for five female students to go to New Zealand,” the Governor said. Mr Haoda called on parents to support their young female family members by encouraging them to apply for the scholarship once applications were open. “If you have girls who have completed grade 12 or currently studying in the universities, please apply so we can get our best five and send them to study in New Zealand,” Governor Haoda said. Mr Haoda said advertisements giving the full details of the application requirements will be published in the Post Courier and the other daily over the coming weeks. Post Courier
