A GROUP of parents of Grade 12 students attending Busu Secondary School in Lae has accused the school of failing to send internal examination marks to the Measurement Service Unit in Port Moresby.
The parents claim that the School Leavers Form were sent late by the school to the unit. Out of the 234 Grade 12 students last year, the parents claimed that less than 10 managed to secure a place in tertiary institutions this year. They blamed the school’s failure to submit the relevant information to the education authorities in Port Moresby. One parent said his son got top placing in accounting in his end of year report but was not accepted in a tertiary institution. Busu Secondary School principal George Geyactulu and deputy administration Silamas Dom denied the claim that the internal marks were sent late to Port Moresby. Dom said: “No forms were sent late to the MSU office in Port Moresby. Teachers were sacrificing Week Eight and Week Nine of Term Three to work on the forms and send it. “By week one of Term Four, all the forms were sent, including the internal marks.” He said everything was done on time and the exam result surprised the teachers as much as the students and parents. Geyatulu said the school administration did not send any internal marks or School Leaving Forms late. “The administration did everything on time. Parents should check and confirm with the Education department and MSU office in Port Moresby before laying allegations against the school,” he said. The National Comments are closed.
