Gas Resource Plant PNG LNG Ltd director Solo Damena has challenged parents to raise children well and to teach them English to keep up with the changing world.
He was speaking at the opening of the new Papa Community Pre-school classroom in Papa village, Central. “A child will need to communicate effectively in order to advance in their studies,” Damena said. “Children can learn and speak their mother tongue, but English is a language changing with the world and we have to keep up with the change. “What this school is doing is complementing what we as parents do at home. It is important for parents to teach your children to use English correctly.” Papa Community Pre-School founder Baga Amopa said: “You parents are the first teachers at home. “It is your responsibility to check your child’s work.” Buk Bilong Pikinini marketing-manager Elizabeth Omeri said: “Children are like sponges.
